Onside Sports is contracted by the UAE Cycling Federation (UAECYCF) to conceptualise, market and deliver various activations and events, across all disciplines, with the aim of growing the UAECYCF's portfolio of owned and managed cycling events.

Being home to the UCI sanctioned Dubai Tour and the Abu Dhabi Tour, as well as boasting numerous UAECYCF sanctioned cycling challenges, cycling has become a highly-popular sport within both the Expatriate and the Emirati community. In reviewing the UAECYCF calendar it was identified by Onside that the Federation required a locally-based UAEChampionship, owned and managed by the Federation, which embraced and showcased the talents of experienced Emirati National and Expatriate cyclists.

Onside worked closely with the Federation to then conceptualise, create and market the Inaugural 2-stage 'UAE Road Cycling Championship 2018'. Open to all amateur male and female, Emirati and Expatriate cyclists, 16 years and over, the Championship has been designed to recognise stage winners in Open Emirati Men, Open Men, Open Emirati Women and Open Women Division as well as crown overall UAE Champions (in each division).

Through Onside's additional scope, the first stage was sponsored by Daman Active Life, and, in a first for any cycling race in Dubai, the second stage starting and finishing at Dubai Sports City's densely populated mixed lifestyle and residential community.

In assisting with managing and delivering the Championship, Onsideworked closely with the Federation, offering support, and liaison with the various government entities; including the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Cycling Club, Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Police, and the RTA, to ensure the route was safe and these entities were able to seamlessly and effectively carry out their respective duties, which included rolling road closures.

The UAE Road Cycling Championship has now become a fixture on the UAE Cycling Federation’s annual calendar, with the 2019 edition anticipated to boast 4 stages across 4 Emirates, starting late 2018
